CARE OF CUT FLOWERS
Don't place flowers in direct sunlight, over radiators or on top of electrical appliances.
If no flower food is used cut about 5mm off stems, on a slant, daily and change the water. A spot of bleach may also help. If food is used follow instructions on the packet.
In a warm room the flowers life can be extended by adding a couple of ice cubes to the water twice a day, move to a cool room overnight.
Don't place flowers by fruit and remove dead blooms immediately as both give off a gas which will kill the others.
Lily pollen should be removed from the centre of the flowers as it begins to open, at this stage it is 'dry' and wont stain, once the flower is fully open the pollen will drop and can stain fabrics and wooden surfaces as well as being poisonous to cats.
